After spending over 30 years overseas, Dr. Eli Wiener-Avnear, CEO of the LEEOAT company in CA, USA, arranged with Dr. Avi Karsenty, head of JCT's Applied Physics/Electro-Optics Engineering Department (2014-2018) and the college's administration the donation of advanced electro-optic laboratory equipment for the establishment of an Israeli institute that would serve as a center of excellence in electro-optics and photonics. The donation, made by the Wiener-Avnear family to JCT's Nanotechnology Center for Research & Education on their return to Israel, included optical tables, processing and characterization equipment, lasers. and many other components and tools to improve the labs. A long and intensive installation period was concluded with a plaque-unveiling ceremony to honor the family's generosity.
